Dr. David Sitt, Founder and Chief Educating officer
A licensed clinical psychologist teaching and practicing in New York City. He serves as the Deputy Chair of the Dept. of Psychology at Baruch College (CUNY), where he has taught for over 10 years. Dr. Sitt conducts grant-funded research exploring the impact of technology on interpersonal communication, social engagement, and emotional wellbeing. As a teacher, Dr. Sitt transforms 400-student jumbo lectures into intimate classroom experiences where the students in the last row participate as if they were in the first. Dr. Sitt's passion for teaching has led to him being ranked #8 in the country on RateMyProfessor.com, among other accolades.
In addition to lecturing, David spreads the tenets of Positive Psychology and mindfulness through various multimedia outlets. TheSittDown.com broadcast and blog integrates culture, research, expert interviews, and personable discussion to highlight edgy trends in positive psychology. Another of David's initiatives, Dance.Love.Now!, is a city wide campaign to spread good will and wellbeing through the streets of NYC via dance flash-mobs. DLN is managed by Psychology in Motion, Dr. Sitt's student organization at Baruch College that inspires others to call upon their strengths and passion to spread positivity to the community at large.
In his NYC-based clinical practice, Dr. Sitt specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults with ADHD, anxiety, and mood disorders. Dr. Sitt uses a strength based approach consistent with positive psychology and is certified in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). David's therapeutic style captures cutting edge techniques used in CBT, Psychodynamic, and Phenomenological orientations.
Dr. Sitt is the founder of The Mindful Consulting Group, which enables him to use his expertise to help others outside the academic sphere. The Mindful Consulting Group has worked with clients such as Stamford Hospital, Naked, McGraw Hill, Research Insight Group, and The Howard Stern Show.
